JULY 2013

FREE Diabetes 101 Education Program
Learn healthy diabetes self-management from our certified diabetes instructor and registered dietician.

Attend this FREE two hour session to learn more about diabetes. This is a special class for any person with diabetes, including those who are newly diagnosed, who want to learn more about
this chronic disease.

We want to help you understand more about diabetes:

- What you can eat
- How physical activity improves your disease management
- How medications help lower your blood sugar

We will also learn more about preventing complications of diabetes like blindness, kidney disease, heart disease and amputations.

Family members are encouraged and welcome to attend this class with you. Diabetes is a disease that requires many healthy lifestyle changes.

AUGUST 2013

I CAN Prevent Diabetes
I CAN Prevent Diabetes is a lifestyle intervention that is offered annually, with classes starting in August, with emphasis on healthy eating and increasing physical activity. The program consists of a 16 week course with group support, and follow up monthly meetings and weigh-ins through the next July. Anyone with high risk for developing diabetes is welcome to register, which includes those who are overweight, have blood sugars elevated to 100-125, strong family history of diabetes, or personal history of diabetes during pregnancy.
