UHD Names Governance Committee Members

 The United Hospital District Board of Directors recently accepted applications from community members and UHD staff people interested in evaluating the United Hospital District's governance structure. Two board member, two residents and two UHD employees were appointed to the 18-member task force. The Task Force will, over a period of nine months, assess governance structures available to UHD and make structural recommendations to the UHD Board.

Jeff Lang, UHD administrator is pleased with the interest and the response. "The board has chosen some very fine individuals." The selections were made from applications received from advertisements for the position. Bill Eckles of Bevcomm, The Rev. Michael Rosy of Winnebago, UHD physical therapist Tara Becker and information network administrator Brice Vanderford will join 13 board members and Dr. Terry Cahill in the nine month study.

The alternative management solutions to be considered will include:

1. Maintaining the current hospital district
2. Creating an independent private non-profit 501c 3
3. Creating a system affiliated private non-profit 501c 3

The governance task froce hopes to complete its work by next April and have a recommendation for the board to vote on at its May 2013 meeting.
