How many babies have been delivered at UHD in the last five years?
Can I stay in the same room from labor through delivery?

Do you provide 24-hour epidurals?
Yes, UHD has implemented an epidural program directed by our anesthesia department.
What sorts of alternative delivery methods do you provide?
Currently, we do not offer alternative delivery options.
Do you have ultrasounds?
UHD has the only 4D Ultrasound in southern Minnesota
How current is UHD’s technology?
UHD has the GE Fetal Monitoring system, which is the monitoring system of choice. Physicians can view the monitor strip of their patients from their office or home. We also have the latest products for infant warming, monitoring and stabilizing.
What happens if my delivery becomes high-risk?
UHD has highly trained and competent staff that manages the care until the transfer to a perinatal center is completed. With the emphasis on early recognition and intervention we are committed to providing or arranging timely and appropriate care.
Where is the closest neo-natal unit and how would we get there?
The closest neo-natal unit is in Rochester, (Mayo) but all the centers are within similar distance. When an infant needs a transfer, the neo-natal team comes here to prepare and attend the transport.
Do you offer vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC’s)?
We have the capacity to do VBAC’s but because of the mandated need for high-risk neo-natal support they are done safely only in large birthing centers, which we are not.
When can I come in to tour the facility?
We will give tours at your convenience. Just call 507-526-7966 and arrange a time.
